“I am constantly downloading Amazon free mp3s. You never know what you'll get. This was a gem. I recommend it highly.”
Our mission is to locate & globally release, previously lost, sound-booth quality tapes, of live performances of popular 60’s & early 70’s bands.
These tapes were made on reel-to-reel tape recorders, by sound engineers and crew, at popular dance and concert venues, with or without permission from the bands. Our first three projects were made from tapes we recorded in 1969, in Melbourne, Australia, with permission from the band leaders.
The tapes we are looking for have been lingering in personal collections, boxes, closets, garages and storage facilities for 40 years or more.
It is our mission to liberate these tapes from their places of imprisonment and release them for the world to enjoy.
With the public and music industry insiders help, we will track down these tapes, digitally remaster them to discover what’s on them, then globally release each performance digitally and on CD, with the proper permissions, rights and royalty payments. We do not deal in audience bootlegs, we only deal with semi-pro or professional quality audio recordings.
So if you or a family member, or someone you know, was a sound engineer at a popular dance or concert venue in the 60s and early 70s, it is now time for you to act.
Dust off those tapes, contact that person you know, or get the word out about what we are looking for.
When you have some solid information about one or more tapes, email LosTraxx Records at "leads@lostraxx.com" with all your contact information, and tell us all about them in excruciating detail, the more detail you include, the easier it will be for us to determine if you have found something we would be interested in.
We pay finders fees and buy tapes, as long as they were originally taped on reel-to-reel, are in good enough condition to be digitally transferred,* are of semi-pro audio quality or better, and the band was nationally or internationally popular.
Our geographic interests are Australia, New Zealand, UK, USA and Canada. If you are outside of these countries, but still have tapes of bands popular in our target geographies, by all means contact us, we will be more than happy to discuss what you have.
See our project pages to find out what projects are active or planned.

Got to LosTraxx Records to preview/buy Max Merritt & The Meteors “Been Away Too Long” from anywhere in the world, delivered to your mail box!
*Reel-to-reel tape is not the best medium for long-term storage in uncontrolled conditions. Some tape can actually be destroyed by a single pass through a tape recorder used to digitize the tape, or to just play it one more time. Any tape supplied to LosTraxx Records for the purpose of digital transfer to evaluate its contents, will be handled in the most cautious and professional way possible, that may include some preconditioning to dry out the magnetic binder material and make the tape more transfer-equipment friendly before the digital transfer. As there is always a risk of destroying the tape during the digital transfer process, LosTraxx will not compensate the tape owners, or pay finders fees, nor guarantee any payments of any kind in relation to a tape, until a digital transfer is complete and the content is determined to be of such quality and subject matter that meets the needs of LosTraxx Records. No exceptions. Sorry.
